R.I.P. Ray Crowe

LONGTIME BIGFOOT RESEARCHER, RAY CROWE, HAS PASSED AWAY.

Loren Coleman had the news today. Ray had a heart attack in a care facility for vets.

Read a touching obit about Ray written by his friend
http://www.cryptozoonews.com/crowe-obit/

Ray was famous for his "The Track Record" newsletter, which usually bore the humorous (and serious) admonishment, "KEEP YOUR SKEPTICALS ON."

He ran the Western (International) Bigfoot Society during a crucial period where the hype of the seventies had died out, but before the big transformation of Bigfooting in the late nineties, with the advent of the influence of the internet.

RIP, Ray. You'll be missed.

It's a bit shocking to hear this today, though we'd long heard his health wasn't good, but just this morning I'd received an email from Larry Lund that said Ray was doing better.
"For those interested, Ray is doing much better and the Doctor is saying he expects Ray to be around for at least another year. He has been transferred to a new Veterans Care Facility in Lebanon, Oregon. Here is the address that you can send correspondence to. For now, just send it to Charles R. Crowe in care of the facility. I should have the exact mailing directly to him and will post it immediately. Any questions you may contact me at any time.
Charles R. Crowe
600 North 5th Street
Lebanon, OR. 97355
Till I know more…..
All The Best,Larry"

Nickowitz Fire Still Burning above Bluff Creek and Bigfoot Historical Zone

NEWS UPDATE:
Burning since lightning struck on August 1st, the Nickowitz Fire is still active right above the historic Bluff Creek Bigfoot area. It burned within only a half a mile of the Patterson-Gimlin Film Site, as you may see in the following graphic. This was the closest the fire burned, in mid-late August.

Currently the fire has been largely contained, but is still active in hot, dry conditions, with occasional winds coming off the coast to the inland. It will likely burn until the first heavy rains of fall. Here is the current official ops map for Sept. 11th. The PGF site is a small red dot to the right.

Bluff Creek itself remains closed, with heavy penalties if you go up there (so don't). The roads away from the fire and the creek basin, The G-O Road to 12N12, Slate Creek, and Cedar Camp are still open, as is the Fish Lake/Onion Mountain (Bluff Creek) Road up almost to Onion Lake (which latter is in the closure zone).

Here is the map detailing the road/area closures that are still in effect indefinitely.

Fire Update: Nickowitz Fire, above Bluff Creek.

NEWS FLASH: FIRE NEAR PATTERSON-GIMLIN FILM SITE
Fire detail, showing just how close the
fire is to Bluff Creek Bigfoot history.
Click Map to Enlarge for Detail

The NICKOWITZ FIRE continues to burn and move on its southern and western flanks, away from the fire line above the PGF site, but slowly creeping toward Notice Creek. Conditions now aren't bad, but a sudden change in the winds could spell disaster. The area around the fire, including the whole upper Bluff Creek basin in now CLOSED until the fire is considered to be out. This could mean the entire remaining summer-fall season. This fire started at the beginning of August, and was due to a lightning strike.

For more info. and some photos of the area go here:http://bigfootbooksblog.blogspot.com/2015/08/bluff-creek-closed-indefinitely-due-to.html

BLUFF CREEK PROJECT Trail Camera Funding Drive Back in Action

BLUFF CREEK PROJECT NEWS:

The Bluff Creek Trail Camera Project funding drive is back in action for Summer, 2015.

Here's the latest great wildlife video the project has gotten...

You, too, can participate in this public, crowd-sourced research project by sponsoring a camera to be placed in Bluff Creek or at the PGF site. Even small donations covering batteries and bear boxes help. All funds to to supporting the equipment, and not to buying beer or toys for the Project members.

Here's the link to the IndieGoGo page...

Here's the latest update from Jamie S.

"Summer 2015 Update:
We had a pretty crazy winter out on Bluff Creek. We had multiple Mountain Lion encounters with the cameras and many huge bears. The animals seemed to stay longer in the creek than usual. Over the last few years there was almost no animal activity from December through February. We had bears and deer all winter long walking in front of the cameras. I am still editing the videos. We have many hours of footage to assemble. We did have many camera malfunctions over the winter as well. The two older Bushnell cameras at the film site had stopped working after only one month of filming. It continuously recorded for two days straight then filled up the 32gb memory card. The other camera only functioned for a few days. It's not too bad because we had five cameras installed there overlapping the area. Our brand new camera at the MK Davis site had also failed. There was no memory card in it. I had noted that a card was installed and I am sure there was one in it when we bolted it to the tree. I think it was stolen by someone hiking the creek, but it is possible it was just simply an oversight. This season we hope to retire all of the older cameras and replace them with four new Bushnell Trophy Cams. We have bear boxes for everything already and I have purchased some high quality boron carbide master locks. We also were able to purchase a brand new Bushnell camera with a generous donation from a family who came down to the film site with us in June. So that camera is operating now in a new location adjacent to the film site. We hope this season will be better than the rest and we will concentrate of dialing in our camera traps and securing them.

Winter 2015 update:It's that time of year again. We need to raise funds to buy batteries for our trail cameras. It costs $12.90 for a single set of batteries for the trail cams. We use Energizer Lithiums so they're not cheap. If we buy in bulk it's about $1.07 a battery. We have twenty cameras to service so it all adds up. We would also like to purchase at least two new Bushnell HD cameras to install at our second location at the high lakes on the ridge over Bluff Creek. These cameras are currently $144.99 on Amazon.com right now and we would like two to replace two aging units that are starting to malfunction. All the cameras down at the film site have been running for three months straight now and we can't get in there to service them until May. Until then they will continue to document the wildlife and hopefully a Bigfoot.

Fall 2014 update:9/30/2014We just finished servicing all of the cameras to prepare for winter. All of the cameras have fresh batteries and are armed. We had an incredibly successful summer down on Bluff Creek. We were able to make four trips down to the film site and install three new cameras, as well as six new bear boxes. We raised a lot of money over the summer and were able to purchase two brand new 2014 Bushnell MAX Black HD cameras. These new Bushnell cameras are incredible. They take HD video while simultaneously capturing 8mp still photos for high resolution analysis. We are so stoked on these cameras that we want to focus on replacing a couple of our older cameras with these new models. After some calculation I have determined that our optimum number of trail cameras in the field is 25. Right now we have 19 operating cameras. Nineteen cameras is a lot to service but I feel comfortable handling up to about 25 at our current labor capacity. They take three people two days to service all of them, and they cost $382 for batteries for the whole year. I had a few people asking about donating to project after the Summer crowdfunding campaign ended so I decided to start a fall campaign. For more details about our project please visit out facebook page and watch our videos on youtube."

New Jonny Dagger "Scientific" Paper Seeks to Prove Bigfoot with Chewed and Stacked Prey Animal Bones

Is this man really a scientist?
Yep, he's not a college professor, and he's not a scientist, and he is not a Special Ops commando. He is the co-author of a verbose impersonation of science in the newly-released 80-page "treatise" called, "Using Biotic Taphonomy Signature Analysis and Neoichnology Profiling to determine the identity of the carnivore taxa responsible for the deposition and mechanical mastication of three independent prey bone assemblages in the Mount St. Helen’s ecosystem of the Cascade mountain range." No kidding, that was long. Were all of those big words necessary? Read the paper through the link below, or just read our paraphrastic translation into common English, which we offer here.

There are 80 pages of this complete overblown pseudoscience, plus notes.

Get the full four megabyte PDF here: http://1drv.ms/1BnR9hm

Mitchel Townsend, a.k.a., "Jonny Dagger," a fake paramilitary Bigfoot hunter often seen on YouTube, seems to mix fantasy and reality, having his fictional character discover his "real life" piles of bones supposedly gnawed upon by an unknown giant hominid.  In real life he is a sometime Continuing Education teacher who likes to  pretend he is a college professor. Could it be that his macho commando alter-ego is a form of compensation for inherent nerdiness? Read our translation below and see if his writing makes any sense at all. You might have already heard about him, but not Jonny Dagger, through this Yakima Herald article:
http://www.yakimaherald.com/news/state_news/proof-of-bigfoot-is-in-the-bones-winlock-man-says/article_03b195ef-a782-58e9-823a-9f1a97bf6b5b.html

Watch the Johnny Dagger identity blend with the College Nerd one here, on his YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTlzHFvjLHkqYvF8w-vE4QA

HERE IS OUR TRANSLATION, FOLLOWED BY THE ORIGINAL TEXT OF THE TITLE AND ABSTRACT PARAGRAPH:
Studying some decaying bones and tracks we think were left by a predator we look at the shape of the pile and chewing marks on three piles of dead stuff found near a volcano in Washington.
We found three piles of bones and some things that looked like tracks near Mount St. Helens that we thought we could study for the decay of the bones and look of the tracks that to us could only be a new kind of predator. This mountain is in Washington, in a long western range going up to Canada from NorCal. We want to sound pretentious in this paper that pretends to show facts and coherent thought about some dead bones and tracks we found. But I already said that. We're comparing three piles of this junk and some tracks. Our assumptions about this will be compared to a bunch of other widespread claims people make (about Bigfoot). We think we've gotten rid of all other possible animals that could have left this piling of bones, and we thought we'd better consider all kinds of theories from all over the place, and pretend to be scientists. This took us like years, so we hope others will like our paper and look for their own piles of dead stuff. Heck, maybe we can even impress some real scientists or academic dudes? Maybe they'll take us seriously and look into this stuff we pretentiously present in this overwritten paper. We use some big words that aren't really necessary, then we tell some stories about our "research," then we tell you about how we looked at this stuff and presumed Bigfoot did it, so we call for more people to look at what we're saying.

The Original Text:
"Using Biotic Taphonomy Signature Analysis and Neoichnology Profiling to determine the identity of the carnivore taxa responsible for the deposition and mechanical mastication of three independent prey bone assemblages in the Mount St. Helen’s ecosystem of the Cascade mountain range
The discovery of three independent prey bone assemblages and track evidence within a 17 mile radius of Mount St. Helen’s [SIC] presented a unique opportunity to establish baseline Taphonomic and Neoichnologic profiles of a currently unclassified carnivore taxa. Mount St. Helen’s is located within the Cascade Mountain range ecosystem of central Washington State. This mountain range extends from Southern British Columbia to Northern California. The methodologies for this scholarly essay will focus upon chronologically presenting facts, measurements, and analysis based upon the discovery, collection, and synthesis of physical post mortem forensic evidence within an integrated Taphonomic and Ichnologic research framework. These individual and categorical conclusions will then be cross compared in the process of illuminating potential commonalities and evidence based linkages to geographically separated site and evidence profiles. The careful elimination of all of currently classified biological possibilities that may have been responsible for the deposition of this physical evidence required the expansion of methodology and scope of inquiry to include all possibilities both geographical and theoretical in the search for truth as required by the foundations of scientific inquiry. Furthermore, the conclusions drawn from this multi-year research effort should help to enable the collection and comparison of further regionalized prey assemblages against the baseline results of this study as well as encourage additional scholarly attention from anthropologists, forensics scientists, and wildlife biologists in a renewed effort to bring further understanding and clarity to the conclusions illuminated within this treatise. This effort is organized into the following main categories: taphonology and ichnology, discovery and collection narrative, taphonomic and neoichnologic research frameworks, evidence examination, evidence analysis, evidence conclusions, and a call for expanded cross disciplinary examination and discussion."
WHICH ONE MAKES MORE SENSE TO YOU?

What does this mean?: "...expansion of methodology and scope of inquiry to include all possibilities both geographical and theoretical in the search for truth." Nothing specific. It means, basically, having an open mind to everything, because we can't explain it otherwise, looking at all theories across the planet for this "truth" thing, because we all know that "science" doesn't know it already. This is CLASSIC bullshit paranormal-speak, pseudo-scientific babble, disguised as scientific discourse.

The paper features just about THE worst "Bigfoot" track ever.

Yes, there is no way it could have been... a porcupine.

"Scientific papers are for sharing your own original research work with other scientists or for reviewing the research conducted by others. As such, they are critical to the evolution of modern science, in which the work of one scientist builds upon that of others. To reach their goal, papers must aim to inform, not impress. They must be highly readable — that is, clear, accurate, and concise. They are more likely to be cited by other scientists if they are helpful rather than cryptic or self-centered."

SASQUATCH ONTARIO Hoax Exposed?

Recently, the famous YouTube page of Mike Patterson, aka SASQUATCH ONTARIO was shut down due to a copyright claim by the owner of the "habituation" property. The issue was some personal photos in the video, and the possible exposure of private identities. Mike, the beloved human of "Nephatia," a marble-loving, talking Bigfoot, has been expelled and booted from YouTube. Now there is a NEW Sasquatch Ontario page up, at least bearing that name, though it seems to be an anti-Mike page now, apparently run by the Property Owner. I think these two videos clearly reveal that Mike was a hoaxer, especially the audio one.

The OTHER side of the story?

This raw audio reveals more clearly than ever before that the Nephatia vocalizations were hoaxed.I think these videos were made by the property owner to expose the hoax. The audio is clearly recorded indoors with a close mic and wooden props, with no "Nature" sound effects or enhancements that Mike would usually add. The information in the preceding video is disparaging to Mike. This is a new account, appropriating the name of Mike's old one. There seems to be an undermining intent here.

MAN HAS NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE ENCOUNTERING A BLOBSQUATCH!

Here's a cautionary tale.... Pareidolia follows you wherever your mind goes! And... the clickbait sites are betting you'll want to believe it, or at least look long enough for them to make .001 of a cent.

Ohio Man Encounters and Photographs Multiple ‘Bigfoot Creatures’?

SERIOUSLY???????????
Apparently those vicious, dangerous Blobsquatches just ripped common sense right out of this guy's head. Really, there is nothing there but water, snow, and some barren trees. Apparently one is going to find whatever blob one wishes to by staring at the mound or rootball at center right.

This is actually a story of how BS stories spread. First it appeared on the "fake-news" site, Cryptozoology News dot com on June 2nd, 2015. Then it appeared on another site, Bigfoot Daily, on June 4th in the *exact* same words. Soon, I am sure, it will be featured credulously on Bigfoot Evidence.

Links, if you care to fall for the CLICKBAIT. I'd rather recommend boycotting these two sites, though:

Bigfoot Psychic and Mystic KEWAUNEE Speaks, in a Recent Interview

"It was in September of 1979, in Wisconsin, out on a farm... where a Sasquatch started to talk with me telepathically, and then moments later an ET from a spaceship,... in a UFO as you people call it... I wasn't afraid, but it was the shock of my life, in experiencing mental telepathy."
